Using the W 4 G Special Event Call Sign on Jan. 24 – 27, 2025, the Athens Radio Club (ARC) will be operating from Watson Mill Bridge State Park in support of the Winter Field Day communications exercise. This will be our 5th year operating from this park. Listen for the Winter 4 Georgia stations on the air all weekend.

Before Winter Field Day officially begins, we will also be using the W 4 G call sign to activate Watson Mill Bridge State Park, US-2207, for Parks on the Air (POTA). All contacts made from the park before, and during, Winter Field Day will be uploaded to the POTA website for credit. Look for us on the POTA spotting page https://pota.app/.

Thanks to all the Winter Field Day stations that made contact with us in past years. Again this year, we will be operating during Winter Field Day as a 3O-GA (Three Oscar Georgia) station: three transmitters capable of operating simultaneously, outdoors operating from a partly or fully exposed building or shelter, and location identifier GA (Georgia). We look forward to working your station this year.
